Understanding Your Insurance Coverage: Period X
Navigating insurance options should be straightforward. Whether you're reviewing your current plan or looking to customize your protection, here is a simple breakdown of the insurance coverage provided under our Period X program.
Standard Coverage (Included Automatically)
Liability Coverage
Every policy under our Period X program automatically includes Liability Coverage at no extra cost.
- What it is: Think of liability coverage as your financial shield for other people and their property. If you get into an accident and are found to be at fault, liability coverage helps pay for the damage and injuries you cause to others.
- What it covers:
- Bodily Injury: Medical bills for other drivers, passengers, or pedestrians injured in the accident.
- Property Damage: Pays for damage caused to the other party’s vehicle due to an at-fault accident, as well as property like guardrails, fences, or street signs.
Important Note: up to 100k per accident for injuries, up to 30k per accident for property damage.*
*FL offers statutory state minimum requirements
Optional Coverage (Add-Ons for Your Vehicle)
While standard liability coverage pays for damage to other people, it does not cover damage to your own vehicle. To protect your car, you have the option to add Collision and Comprehensive coverage to your policy.
1. Collision Coverage
- What it is: Covers repairs to your vehicle if you are involved in a crash.
- What it covers: Damage to your car resulting from a collision with another vehicle or object (such as a tree, guardrail, or telephone pole), or a rollover accident—regardless of who was at fault.
2. Comprehensive Coverage ("Comp")
- What it is: Covers damage to your vehicle caused by unexpected events other than a traffic collision.
- What it covers: Repairs (or Actual Cash Value in the event of a total loss if your vehicle is damaged by non-collision events, including:
- Theft or vandalism
- Severe weather (hail, flooding, windstorms)
- Falling objects (like tree branches)
- Collisions with animals (such as hitting a deer)
Deductibles: Since Comp and Collision cover damage to your vehicle, any claim would be subject to the deductible before payment can be made, then, the insurance covers the remaining approved claim amount. Deductibles are set at $2,500 for vehicles valued under $50k; if a vehicle is worth over 50k the deductible is set at $5,000. These amounts are set by the carrier and cannot be changed at this time. If other deductible options become available in the future, we will share this information as well!
How to Adjust Your Coverage
You can add or modify your Collision and Comprehensive coverage at any time by navigating to Manage Fleet on your INSHUR account. Please note that you cannot add Collision and Comprehensive coverage to vehicles valued under $5k.
